Our October meeting will be on Sunday, October 5th, 2014, from 1-4.  Please note that the meeting is being held on a Sunday as the day before (Saturday) is Yom Kippur.

This meeting will feature presentations from the Jeannette Shaffner Travel Grant recipients who attended the Carcinoid Awareness National Conference in September.

The NorCal CarciNet Community Board will also present information from our annual meeting.

In the News:

On September 1, Ipsen announced that that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted and granted priority review of its supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for SomatulineĀ® DepotĀ® 120mg injection in the treatment of GEP-NETs. The FDA is expected to render a decision in early Q1, 2015 according to the company's press release.

New in our Clinical Trail section is the NIH Familial Carcinoid Tumor Study of interest to those whose families have a history of small bowel carcinoid.

NorCal CarciNet Community President Josh Mailman, along with other patient advocate leaders participated in the second annual SNMMI Patient Hill Day.  Josh was able to meet with representatives from Senator Feinstein, Senator Boxer and House Representative Lee and educate on the need for continued funding for nuclear medicine research and the impact that nuclear medicine and molecular imaging is having for those with NETs.
