On Saturday, April 5th, 2014 from 1-4pm we will have our regular meeting at the Cancer Support Community (CSC) in Walnut Creek.

Our invited speaker will be Dr. Edda Gomez-Panzani, Vice President, Clinical Sciences - Neuroendocrinology at Ipsen U.S.

She will talk to us about the Clarinet clinical trial that was published last year, and give an overview about cancer.

On March 23rd, NorCal CarciNet Community showed up at the Oakland Running Festival with 50 runners, 20 volunteers, 60+ contributors raising awareness and over $6,000 going towards educational events. Our dazzle of zebras in NorCal CarciNet shirts (see below) made a lasting impression to the over 10,000 in attendance.

Josh Mailman, President of the NorCal CarciNET Community and chairman of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging's Patient Advisory Board has been appointed as an alternate to PCORI's newest panel on Rare Diseases. This advisory panel consists of 13 members and two alternates, representing people with a diverse but strong background in rare disease research and advocacy.The goal of the PCORI Rare Disease Panel is to provide input to PCORI on research needs of the rare disease community and advise other committees and panels to ensure that the unique considerations of rare diseases are addressed. 

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is authorized by Congress to conduct research to provide information about the best available evidence to help patients and their health care providers make more informed decisions. PCORI's research is aimed at giving patients a better understanding of the prevention, treatment and care options available.

Novartis has introduced a new copay card for those needing help with Sandostatin LAR Depot copay.

Jack Imaging has introduced a new online storage and sharing platform for medical images.  It is free to try during their beta period and they hope to keep it free for patients in the future.
