March 31, 2014 marks the deadline for getting insurance under the Affordable Health Care Act (AHCA) for this year, with March 15, 2014 being the deadline if you would like the insurance to start on April 1, 2014. Open enrollment for 2015 will start on October 15, 2014 and end on December 15, 2014.

If you have changed coverage, make sure your doctors and cancer centers take your new plan. If not you may need to change your plan before open enrollment ends. While insurance should be universally cover cancer treatment and specialist, not all plans may work with your doctors or medications. Ron Hollander, the executive director of Caring for Carcinoid Foundation wrote an excellent article about this issue.
